WAR GAMES CON
Just came back from http://www.wargamescon.com/ in
Austin Texas! This is one of my favorite events. Battle points,
painting scores, and sportsmanship score were in effect.

The crew over at http://www.belloflostsouls.net/ always kick off the summer with this event and it is always a blast.
This Year was the first WGC to take
place under 6th edition 40k rules. The event used a battle
point system that was challenging yet still friendly and casual in
some ways. On Friday I played in the doubles event with Rob Baer as
team http://blog.spikeybits.com/ We Played 3 games with Demons and though we won all
three failed to secure enough points for a win, but we did take home
“best appearance” .
On Saturday I played the first 4 games
of the Grand Tournament. After 4 brutal games vs. Imperial
Guard,Demons,Necrons,and Chaos/Demons I had secured enough points to
qualify for top 16 on Table 4. On Sunday I played the final 3 games
for the GT with the other 15 top players. I was able to secure a
fantastic score vs. Imperial Guard/Space Marines with 9 thud guns and
9 saber plat forms and advance to table 3. Unfortunately I was unable
to win my second game vs. Tyranids with unlimited guants in a relic
mission, but I fought hard and secured points in my defeat. My final
game was on table 4 again vs. Necrons. My opponent was a friend of
mine who admitted that this was a poor match up for him, and I was
able to secure enough points for a 4th place finish in the
GT after 7 games. I also took home another “best appearance”
award.
